New details about DJI's first robot vacuum have surfaced online. While the DJI Romo has been rumoured to be in development for some time, it sounds fairly run-of-the-mill as things stand.

The robot vacuum space is dominated by a few key players, including iRobot, Ecovacs and Roborock. However, a new report suggests that DJI will soon dip its toes into the burgeoning product segment after a long gestation period.

According to Dronenr, DJI is still developing the Romo. Incidentally, it appeared that the company's first robot vacuum was pictured alongside several other upcoming DJI products, including a successor to the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Pro (curr. $2,149.99 on Amazon).

Allegedly, the Romo will be a high-end option, which would likely see it start at well over $1,000 if sold globally. Moreover, Dronenr reports that DJI may integrate LiDAR sensors to help distinguish the Romo from its peers. To that end, these might already be available in the Air 3S that debuted last month.

Unsurprisingly, the Romo is said to support room mapping and object detection. Likewise Dronenr suggests that DJI will allow users to customise cleaning cycles, as well as suction power and water levels. In other words, it remains to be seen at this stage how the DJI Romo will be any different from existing and more established competitors.
