DJI confirmed yesterday what is believed to be the launch date for its next microphone release. However, the Mic Mini is not ready just yet. Nonetheless, Igor Bogdanov has obtained footage of a retail unit being unboxed and compared against the existing Mic 2.
As the photo above shows, the Mic Mini is about half the size of the Mic 2, which tallies with the former's rumoured 10 g weight. Incidentally, the Mic Mini is expected to offer up to 10 hours of battery life when paired over Bluetooth, despite its tiny form factor. DJI has shrunk its accompanying charging case and transmitter accessories too, albeit not to the same extent as the microphone itself.
For reference, the rumoured Mic Mini will arrive less than a year after the introduction of the Mic 2 (curr. $99 on Amazon). The Mic Mini should be significantly cheaper than the Mic 2 though. Based on current expectations, the Mic Mini will be 40% cheaper than the Mic 2 when purchased on its own. Similarly, the Mic Mini, charging case and transmitter bundle should come in at roughly 50% less than the equivalent Mic 2 package.
