SmallRig, a well-known content creation solutions maker, has expanded its compact wireless microphone portfolio by launching the all-new S70 wireless microphone. SmallRig’s new wireless microphone directly competes with the likes of DJI Mic mini and Insta360 Mic Air.
With a metallic finish body, the S70 features a compact and lightweight design, weighing just 8.7 grams. By contrast, the DJI Mic Mini is 2 grams heavier than the S70. The microphone is tuned by Grammy Award-winning engineer Luca Bignardi for capturing pro sound in 360° clarity, said SmallRig in its press release. The wireless microphone is designed for content creators, streamers, and professionals in mind, featuring a 48 kHz sampling rate, 24-bit depth, 70 dB signal-to-noise ratio, and a maximum SPL of 120 dB.
Interestingly, the device ships with automatic limiting, anti-distortion, and 3-level noise cancellation, and you can choose the level according to your environment. On top of that, there are physical buttons to turn on noise cancellation and start video recording. Furthermore, it offers 3 recording modes, including mono, stereo, and safety track, which records an additional -6 dB backup track to prevent audio clipping from sudden loud peaks.
Speaking of battery life, the S70 wireless microphone boasts up to 40 hours of battery life, making it ideal for extended recording sessions. Like the DJI Mic Mini, you can tweak the settings of the new wireless microphone via the companion app. Moreover, the receiver has a transmission range of 984 ft in open space with no obstruction and interference. Other features include 9 built-in EQ presets, one-tap switching, automatic clipping protection, and a gain preset for seamless compatibility with any device.
As for price, the SmallRig S70 wireless microphone is priced at $89.99 and is now available for purchase via SmallRig’s official website and B&H Photo.
