HP has unveiled two new HyperX microphones alongside its HyperX Cloud headphones and Omen gaming desktops. The HyperX SoloCast 2 succeeds the SoloCast launched earlier and brings forth a new design with improved specifications. It ditches the traditional design for a more boxy look, but its base has remained mostly the same.
Alternatively, you can mount it on a microphone stand via the included 3/8" and 5/8" threads. The HyperX SoloCast 2 can record 48-bit audio at 96 kHz, has a frequency range of 20Hz-20kHz and weighs 330 grams.A tap-to-mute function is also included, along with an LED that shows you when your mic is live/off. Connectivity is limited to USB only.
The HyperX FlipCast is the more premium offering of the lot. HP claims the product delivers "pro-quality audio to almost any recording setup". For starters, its multifunction wheel lets you adjust microphone gain, headphone volume, and monitor mix, all of which can be monitored on an LED wheel.
Other HyperX FlipCast specs include USB-C/XLR connectivity, the ability to record up to 32-bit audio at up to 192 kHz, a signal-to-noise ratio of 110 dB (at 1 kHz), and XLR connectivity for use in studio environments. Alternatively, a USB-C cable is also included for use with PCs.
The HyperX SoloCast 2 costs $59.99, while the HyperX FlipCast is more expensive $249.99. Both microphones will be available in August via HP's website and other e-commerce platforms.
