New information about the features that may grace the Garmin Fenix 8 series has emerged online. Likely appearing only a day or so before the official launch event, the leak suggests that Garmin will offer the Fenix 8 series with new connectivity options missing from its flagship smartwatches until now.

FitnessTrackerTest (FTT) has shared more details about the Fenix 8, Garmin's widely reported next smartwatch release. Currently, a precise release date remains unknown for now. However, FTT recently shared official battery life estimates for multiple sizes, including rumoured AMOLED and MIP display variants.

On top of that, FTT has highlighted some of the connectivity options that could grace all Fenix 8 models. Reportedly, Garmin plans to offer its Garmin Share functionality from launch day. Arriving on Fenix 7 models like the Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Solar (curr. $899.99 on Amazon) earlier this year, Garmin describes Garmin Share in the following terms:

The Garmin Share feature allows you to directly share data with other compatible Edge cycling computers. When you are within 10 feet (3 metres) of another compatible Edge, you can share saved locations, courses, and workouts directly. This allows you to send information to another Edge without the need for access to your Garmin Connect account.

Moreover, FTT alleges that Garmin has also integrated microphone and speaker hardware across the Fenix 8 range. On the one hand, this should facilitate taking and making phone calls directly on a Fenix 8 when in Bluetooth proximity of a paired smartphone. On the other hand, FTT adds that the smartwatches will be capable of processing voice commands, again only when connected to a paired smartphone. Presumably, the latter functionality will interact with the default voice assistant on said smartphone though, rather than Garmin creating a solution itself.
