Philips Hue app update rolls out with new features for iOS
More changes have arrived for the Philips Hue app for iOS. Version 5.29.0, which appeared on October 29th, brings widget-based controls and two new features for the brand’s smart security cameras, like the Secure Desktop Wired (curr. $170.19 at Amazon).
The release notes for the Philips Hue app version 5.29.0 state that the security camera’s snapshot image is now blurred while you are waiting to connect. The company suggests that it has made this alteration to enhance privacy. In addition to this, the strength of the camera’s Wi-Fi signal is indicated in the Security Center snapshot. This feature was added to the live view in update 5.26.0, which rolled out in September.
Finally, you can now use an iOS widget to start timers or turn on a Mimic presence automation. The latter will automatically switch your smart lights on and off in selected rooms at logical times, helping to deter intruders while you are away. You can now download the Philips Hue app version 5.29.0 from the Apple App Store. The Google Play Store version is currently offering the older version 5.28.0; it is unclear whether or when version 5.29.0 will arrive for Android users.
