The IKEA Parasoll, a smart sensor for doors and windows, is receiving a new feature. This latest tool allows you to receive more notifications to help keep your home secure. The feature arrived in the latest update of the IKEA Home smart app for iOS; it is unclear when an equivalent Android version will be released.

IKEA’s latest iOS app update has brought a new feature to the Parasoll door/window sensor. This smart home product was launched in 2023 alongside the Vallhorn motion sensor. The Parasoll can be used to notify you when a door or window is opened unexpectedly, delivering push notifications, audible alarms or triggering a connected smart light.

Now, IKEA Home smart app version 1.39.0 for iOS has arrived with a new tool for the Parasoll. You can now choose to have reminders triggered if the door or window with the sensor remains open for a longer period of time. The brand suggests that this could be useful for a garage door, which you might forget to close when you come home. It is unclear whether users can define the length of time before they receive a notification.

Users should note that notifications are only possible when the Parasoll sensor is connected to a Dirigera hub. At the time of writing, the IKEA Home smart app for Android is on version 1.33.0 and does not appear to have this new feature, with no indication as to when it could arrive for these users. You can download the latest version of the IKEA Home smart app from the Apple App Store. A similar door left open feature is already available on the YoLink Door Sensor (curr. $16.99 at Amazon).
