The IKEA PARASOLL and VALLHORN have arrived earlier than expected. The smart home sensors were due to launch in January, but the gadgets are already available to purchase online in countries like France and Sweden. Plus, a customer in Germany has reported finding the PARASOLL in one of IKEA’s Cologne stores.
The PARASOLL, a two-part sensor, can detect if the window or door it is placed on is left open. You can then receive a smartphone notification if the gadget is linked to the DIRIGERA hub. Plus, you can connect the sensor to a smart bulb, which can be switched on when the door is open and turned off when closed. The battery-powered gadget is attached to the door or window with screws or the double-sided adhesive accompanying the product.
The VALLHORN is a wireless motion detector for indoor or outdoor use. It can be connected to up to ten light sources, triggering them simultaneously. You can set the sensor to day or night mode, switching the lights off again after 1 or 5 minutes. As with the PARASOLL, app notifications can be triggered if the sensor is connected to a DIRIGERA hub. The product has a matte case and a maximum range of 10 m (~33 ft), assuming no walls get in the way.
As expected, the IKEA PARASOLL Door/window sensor smart retails for €9.99 in France and is priced at 129 kr in Sweden. The VALLHORN Wireless motion detector connected also retails for €9.99 in France but costs just 99 kr in Sweden. The product is expected to roll out to more countries in the new year.
