All three Google Nest Hub smart displays are eligible for the rollout of Fuchsia version 14.20230831.4.72, which has a detailed list of bug fixes and minor enhancements.
In this latest build, Google claims to have resolved the "spurious overnight presence events" that have plagued Nest users for months. The issue involved incorrect person detection and false routine triggers by the Nest Hub, usually at night.
Users complained of a consistent "random ghost triggers" occuring daily between the hours of 2am to 3am. First reported in August, the false alerts and triggers didn't stop even after repeated power cycling or troubleshooting. Now, this bug appears to be finally fixed in this firmware update.
Fuchsia version 14 also improves Matter support such as enhanced transition time handling in color-changing smart lights such as these Philips-Hue Ambience bulbs.
There are also minor enhancements for WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. These fixes have some effects on media playback and audio latency, which will only be barely noticeable on a Nest Hub.
Other improvements are directed at Fuchsia developers, but more user-focused updates may be available for public preview in the coming weeks. Nest users who are not yet enrolled for the public preview can easily do so via the Google Home app.
