New IKEA Dubbelkisel smart lighting driver on the way

IKEA is developing a new smart home product: the Dubbelkisel Driver. Spotted in a database of Thread products, this appears to be a successor to the brand’s older Trådfri Driver for wireless control.
The IKEA Dubbelkisel Driver will enable users to remotely control integrated lighting. It could be particularly useful for those with under-cabinet and wardrobe lighting solutions. Users can remotely switch the connected lights on or off, as well as adjust their brightness level. When connected to an IKEA Dirigera hub, users can also access scenes and set up timers in the IKEA Home smart app.
In the Thread Group’s product database, the upcoming IKEA Dubbelkisel Driver is listed as supporting Thread version 1.4.0 and Matter. This means that it should be able to integrate with many smart home ecosystems. There will be a total of four versions, with maximum wattages of 15W and 30W, and variants for the EU and North American markets. Like its Trådfri predecessor, the Dubbelkisel Driver is expected to use a 24-volt power system, meaning it could easily replace an existing driver.
It is unclear when the IKEA Dubbelkisel Driver will be released, and how much it will cost. As an indication of price, the IKEA Trådfri Driver for wireless control retails for $45/£22/€25.
