Cheaper IKEA outdoor smart plug with Matter launching in Europe

The IKEA Tofsmygga Plug, black/outdoor smart, has started to roll out across Europe. This is the latest Matter compatible smart home product to be released by the brand, arriving a few months after devices like the Myggbett Door/window sensor and the Timmerflotte Temperature/humidity sensor.
IKEA’s Tofsmygga outdoor plug is designed for use with outdoor lighting or garden equipment. The smart device uses Matter-over Thread, meaning it can be remotely controlled in a range of ways when connected to a Thread border router like the IKEA Dirigera Hub or the Aqara Smart Home Hub M3 (curr. $199.99 at Amazon). Support for Matter allows it to integrate with many other smart home ecosystems. It could be motion-controlled when connected to a compatible sensor, or you could control multiple units simultaneously with a smart remote.
Plus, through the IKEA Home smart app, users can set up a schedule, which could be used to turn outdoor lights on or off at a specific time. It can also be used to monitor your power consumption. The IKEA Tofsmygga Plug is marketed as weather-resistant, with an IP44 dust and water resistance rating when the lid is closed. It has a black plastic body measuring 62 x 108 x 71 mm (~2.44 x 4.25 x 2.80 inches).
At IKEA’s online store in Sweden, the IKEA Tofsmygga Plug, black/outdoor smart, is now listed for SEK 149, though it is currently out of stock. Similarly, it has been listed in the brand’s Shop&Go feature in countries like Germany with an RRP of €12.99. It remains to be seen when this smart plug will become available in this region.
