IKEA Badkruka: New Bluetooth speaker offers Spotify Tap and stereo pairing for 50 euros

For years, IKEA has grown far beyond flat-pack furniture, steadily carving out a niche in home and garden electronics. Beyond traditional major appliances like ovens and refrigerators, the Swedish brand continues to expand its smart electronics lineup. The latest addition, the Badkruka Bluetooth speaker, is currently listed on IKEA’s German storefront for €50 (~$55). While the device is already available to order online (plus shipping) and in stock across several brick-and-mortar stores in Germany, it has not yet appeared on regional sites such as IKEA UK.

IKEA remains somewhat sparse on technical details. Crucial specifications—such as driver sizing or acoustic output—are omitted, with the product description simply highlighting balanced midrange reproduction. Consequently, a built-in dedicated subwoofer should not be expected. Audio parameters can be adjusted via three equalizer presets. Two Badkruka units can be set up as a stereo pair or linked directly to a display, but the setup is not limited to just two devices: multiple Badkruka units and other compatible IKEA speakers can be linked together for synchronized playback across several speakers.

Measuring 16 x 16 x 17.5 cm (6.3 x 6.3 x 6.9 inches), the Badkruka features physical controls for volume and media playback, alongside a dedicated Spotify Tap button that launches music without needing to touch a smartphone. The product listing makes no mention of an integrated rechargeable battery, pointing toward mains-powered stationary use. Built from ABS plastic and polycarbonate, the IKEA Badkruka is available in black and pink finishes.
