IKEA has launched a new motion-triggered lighting product, the Ankarlägg. The battery-powered device has a playful design and can be simply mounted to a wall using adhesive tape. Plus, the night light will automatically switch off to conserve battery life.

The IKEA Ankarlägg night light with sensor, battery operated, has launched in Europe. This product is designed for use in a hallway, bedroom or a closet, automatically switching on when motion is detected.

The Ankarlägg has a playful white and gray bulb-shaped design. The night light is triggered when movement is detected within a 3 m (~10 ft) range, and will automatically switch off when no motion is sensed for 30 seconds, conserving battery life. It is worth noting that this IKEA lighting product does not sit in the brand’s smart home range, so it cannot be connected to other smart devices or controlled via the brand’s app.

IKEA’s Ankarlägg is powered by a single AAA battery, with the company estimating that it should run for around six months if triggered 10 times daily. It can be switched off using a simple switch on its base. Plus, its wireless design makes it easy to install; it can be mounted in the position of your choice using the double-sided adhesive tape provided. The light is 105 mm (~4.13 inches) tall and 75 mm (~2.95 inches) wide.

You can now buy the IKEA Ankarlägg night light with sensor in European countries like France and Sweden for €2.99/SEK 39. It is currently available at the brand’s online store, with limited store availability reported by the company’s stock status tool. It remains to be seen when this product will reach more countries.
