Shelly unveils new slim smart home sensor

The Shelly Flood S Gen4 has been revealed. This smart home sensor is a follow-up to the original Shelly Flood Gen4 (curr. $32.99 at Amazon). The model will be part of a wider range of new products on show at Light + Building 2026, taking place in Germany this March.
Shelly’s new Flood S Gen4 is designed to detect water leaks via built-in stainless steel sensors. The company describes the model as “fast and reliable”. Users can receive an immediate smartphone notification of a leak, and the smart sensor also has an integrated flashing light and audible alarm. There are three alarm modes on offer, with various levels of response speed; it is worth noting that the more intense settings come at a compromise to the device’s battery life.
The Flood S Gen4 will work with many of Shelly’s other products, and Matter compatibility also allows it to integrate with other smart home ecosystems. It supports Wi-Fi, Zigbee, and Bluetooth connectivity. The main benefit of this new model over its predecessor is its slim design, meaning it can easily fit in narrow spaces like under a dishwasher. It is unclear when the Shelly Flood S Gen4 will be released, and how much it will cost.
