Cost-effective home cinema: Sonos releases new Era 100 SL speaker globally

Sonos has now released the Era 100 SL globally. Joined by the Sonos Play, the Era 100 SL serves as an effective replacement for the ageing Sonos One SL. While a bookshelf speaker too, the Era 100 SL can also be mounted on stands as the image above shows.
Ultimately, the Era 100 SL shares almost all the same features as the existing Era 100. For instance, the former supports Line in, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. Touch controls also return, as does stereo pairing and humidity resistance. However, Sonos has dropped voice control support and built-in microphones.
Consequently, one will need an iOS device to activate Trueplay because Android devices require voice controls to enable the feature. Setting aside, Sonos describes the Era 100 SL as the 'most cost-effective way to build your home cinema setup'. It is worth keeping in mind that trimming these features only saves $30 per speaker.
The Era 100 SL is available to order today from Sonos or third parties like Amazon. Currently, Sonos is offering its new speaker in black and white finishes. Both finishes retail for $189 and should start shipping on March 31. Please see Sonos' website for more details.
