Philips Hue app update officially adds new Automations feature

Philips Hue app version 5.61 is now available for iOS and Android. This is the second February 2026 release, following the version 5.60.1 update, which brought support for more languages for the brand’s AI assistant. It also added new customization options for users of wired Hue Secure cameras and the Hue Secure Wired video doorbell (curr. $169.99 at Amazon).
The release notes for the Philips Hue app version 5.61 officially announce a new Automations tool. This functionality was first mentioned in an update for the Hue Bridge v2 and the Bridge Pro. It was then spotted by some users following the version 5.60.1 app update. Previously, users had to navigate to the dedicated Automations tab in the app.
Now, this latest Philips Hue app feature allows users to create or adjust Automations from within a Room or Zone. In the Room or Zone view, an ‘Automations’ section has been added below the My Scenes, Lights and Controls spaces. Here, you can view a list of existing Automations linked to the area. Plus, you can rearrange the order of the sections in the Room or Zone view by going to (...) > Edit Room > Order.
To download the Philips Hue app version 5.61, go to the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
