IKEA appears to have permanently tweaked the pricing of many of its new smart home devices in countries across North America and Europe. The brand’s latest smart sensors, light bulbs and remote controls, all of which support the Matter protocol for a broad range of integrations, were released in select markets several weeks ago.
Now, IKEA has standardised the pricing of some of its smart home sensors in Europe. We previously reported that the Myggbett Door/window sensor, the Timmerflotte Temperature/humidity sensor and the Myggspray Wireless motion sensor were priced at €9.99 in some countries, like Germany and €7.99 in other markets, like France. Each of these products now costs €7.99 across the board.
Also in European countries, the price of the Alpstuga Air quality sensor is now €29.99 in some markets where it previously cost €39.99. Plus, the Klippbok Water leak sensor has been lowered in price from €7.99/€9.99 to €6.99. Similarly, in the US, the Klippbok and the Myggspray are now cheaper, each now priced at $7.99 rather than $9.99. Finally, the pricing of the Kajplats smart bulb range has also been lowered in Europe, with prices now starting from €4.99 rather than €6.99.
It has been reported that some customers who had already purchased one of the new IKEA smart home products at a higher price have been able to get the cash back by contacting the customer service team. Others have simply returned and repurchased the items to take advantage of the new, lower price.
