Xiaomi releases new compact fast charger with multi-protocol support

Xiaomi has released the 45W Mini-GaN Charger in India. This accessory shared many similarities with the 45W GaN Mini Charger (USB-C) from the brand, which was released in China in late 2025. In India, the product is referred to as model MDR-20-EA, while the Chinese version is known as model MDY-18-EZ.
The Xiaomi 45W Mini-GaN Charger has a single USB-C port, with support for fast charging protocols like PD3.0, QC3.0 and PPS. According to the company, with the up to 45W output, in half an hour you should be able to charge a Xiaomi 14 to 74% or an iPhone 17 Pro to 65%. There is protection against issues like overcurrent, overvoltage and overheating. Plus, it comes with a white USB-C to USB-C cable.
The accessory for the Indian market has a somewhat similar design to the Chinese accessory, with an all-white design and a curved body. However, it is slightly less compact as its pins do not fold. It measures 40.5 x 34.0 x 40.0 mm (~1.59 x 1.34 x 1.57 inches) and weighs around 57 g (~2.0 oz).
In India, you can buy the Xiaomi 45W Mini-GaN Charger at the brand’s online store for ₹1,799 (~$20). Whether or when an EU version of the accessory could be released remains to be seen. In countries like Germany, the company already sells the 45W Turbo Charging Power Adapter (Type-A) (curr. €21.99 at Mi Store DE).
