Gaming analyst knows 10 reasons why the PS5 Pro will be unveiled in September
The PlayStation 5 Pro with the new RDNA 3 graphics chip is said to offer 66.7 percent more shaders - meaning it can display light, shadows and other visual effects better. There is also a bandwidth upgrade from 448 to 576 GB/s and improved AI performance (300 TOPS). As insider reports recently revealed, Sony appears to be on schedule with the PS5 Pro, making a release of the console by the end of the year realistic.
Of course, before the PS5 Pro can be launched, Sony still has to unveil it. Since the introduction of "State of Play" in 2019, there has always been an event in September, be it a showcase or a State of Play. It is therefore conceivable that such an event will also take place this year - and as gaming analyst William R. Aguilar suspects, the PS5 Pro will be unveiled at this event. On X the analyst lists ten reasons why the console could be unveiled at a PlayStation event in September:
- Fiduciary responsibility: Aguilar cites that Sony needs to present products to its shareholders that will be sold next year. The company should have pressure here, as no games have yet been announced for 2025.
- Timing of the announcement: The PS5 Pro must not be announced too early so as not to affect sales of the current PS5, according to Aguilar. It is therefore conceivable that the PS5 Pro could be unveiled in September and released later in the year.
- First-party games in development: PlayStation has many previously unveiled first-party games in development from studios such as Naughty Dog, Santa Monica and Sucker Punch. Aguilar suspects that the developers are saving the announcements until the PS5 Pro is unveiled soon in order to present the games in the best possible light.
- 30th anniversary: The PlayStation 1 was released in 1994 and celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. It is conceivable that Sony would like to do something special to mark the occasion.
- New leadership: Aguilar also cites that new co-CEOs Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino may be keen to make a major announcement in their first year.
- GTA 6: Another reason cited is that Take-Two will likely want to showcase GTA 6 on the PS5 Pro.
- Final Fantasy: Square Enix will want to present the improved version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 and Final Fantasy 16 on the PS5 Pro, according to the gaming analyst.
- Death Stranding 2: According to Aguilar, Kojima Productions will probably want to show how Death Stranding 2 looks on a PS5 Pro.
- Second-party games: Further, Aguilar cites that in addition to first-party studios, games from several second-party studios will need to be shown in a timely manner, as they are close to release and can't wait until State of Play in early 2025.
- PS5 life cycle: The last, but more general reason given by the gaming analyst is that the PS5 is now in the second half of its life cycle and Sony usually makes big announcements during this period to show what to expect for the rest of the console generation.
