Hideo Kojima has finally provided a glimpse at the follow-up to Death Stranding. Eventually arriving as Death Stranding 2 On The Beach, the sequel contains a new game world and a different operations base for Sam Bridges.

Hideo Kojima has now delivered a new trailer for the sequel to Death Stranding (curr. $32.66 on Amazon). To recap, Norman Reedus confirmed that development for a second Death Stranding game had started by mid-2022. Subsequently, Kojima shared a cryptic teaser in October of the same year before he released a 4-minute trailer a few months later.

While the first trailer was relatively light on specifics, the successor offered up during Sony's first State of Play livestream of 2024 stretches to almost 10 minutes. Additionally, Kojima has confirmed that Death Stranding's follow-up will arrive as 'Death Stranding 2 On The Beach' in a perhaps unintentional nod to the Neil Young album of the same name. Unfortunately, Death Stranding 2 On The Beach will not be ready until sometime during 2025 for the PS5; a PC version remains unconfirmed at this stage.

Nonetheless, the trailer embedded below shows a more varied game world, including deserts, mountain ranges and streets with a cyberpunk aesthetic. Moreover, Kojima has numerous unusual elements, such as a mask with two self-aware gloves, a cat with wings that drinks blood and a crab-like creature shaped like a giant hand. The State of Play Announce Trailer also contains the following description:

Embark on an inspiring mission of human connection beyond the UCA. Sam—with companions by his side—sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: should we have connected? Step by step, legendary game creator Hideo Kojima changes the world once again.
