AOC has lifted the lid on the Q27G3Z/D, a new 1440p IPS gaming monitor. Measuring 27-inches across, the AOC Q27G3Z/D also delivers a 260 Hz refresh rate and 450 nits peak brightness, among other features.

AOC has launched the Q27G3Z/D, a gaming monitor that appears to share few features with the Q27G3XMN/BK, despite the similarities in their model numbers. While AOC launched the Q27G3XMN/BK globally in November, the newer Q27G3Z/D has only been revealed in China so far. However, there is every chance that AOC offers the Q27G3Z/D globally at some point under its AGON Gaming branding, as proved the case with the Q27G3XMN (curr. $279.99 on Amazon).

According to AOC's website, the Q27G3Z/D utilises a Fast IPS panel that measures 27-inches across. Strictly speaking a marketing term, 'Fast IPS' denotes an IPS panel with comparatively fast response times. In this case, the Q27G3Z/D delivers 0.5 ms MPRT and 1 ms GtG response times, with NVIDIA G-SYNC on hand to keep image tearing to a minimum. In a similar vein, the monitor operates at up to 260 Hz, which it combines with a 2,560 x 1,440-pixel resolution.

Unfortunately, the inclusion of HDMI 2.0 ports limits the Q27G3Z/D to outputting at 1440p and 144 Hz when connected to a device that only has HDMI connectivity. By contrast, the monitor's two DisplayPort 1.4 connections provide its full 260 Hz refresh rate without making any resolution compromises. Meanwhile, the Q27G3Z/D boasts 92% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and ΔE<2 factory calibration. As always, AOC has pre-installed software like G-Menu, as well as PiP, PbP and Shadow Control, among other features. For reference, AOC sells the Q27G3Z/D in China for CNY 2,799 (~$392).
