ASUS has introduced the ROG Strix XG259QNS, an update on a gaming monitor with a model number similar to the one that it released last year. As such, the ASUS ROG Strix XG259QNS combines a 1080p resolution with a 380 Hz refresh rate and ships with a USB hub, among other features.

The ROG Strix XG259QNS is ASUS' latest gaming monitor and one which follows the recent European launch of the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD. Incidentally, the XG259QNS is also the first ROG Strix-branded gaming monitor since the XG259QN, with which it shares many features. For reference, ASUS presented the XG259QN at Computex 2023 almost a year ago, although little appears to have changed between it and the XG259QNS.

Comparing the pair's technical specifications reveals that both feature 24.5-inch IPS panels that output at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and 380 Hz. Additionally, the XG259QNS delivers 400 nits peak brightness with VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification, as well as 110% sRGB colour space coverage, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 1 ms GtG response times complemented by AMD FreeSync Premium. In short, it appears that the XG259QNS uses the same display panel as the XG259QN (curr. $421 on Amazon), including identical ports:

  • 1x 3.5 mm jack
  • 1x DisplayPort 1.4 (HBR3)
  • 2x HDMI 2.0
  • 2x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A

As far as we can, ASUS distinguishes the XG259QNS from the older XG259QN with the former's included stand. For context, the XG259QN ships with a stand that can be tilted +20° ~ -5°, swiveled +25° ~ -25°, pivoted 0° ~ 90° clockwise and adjusted 0~110 mm in height. By contrast, the XG259QNS expands these options to +45° ~ -45° swivelling, +90° ~ -90° pivoting and 0~120 mm height while maintaining existing tilt adjustments.

ASUS has not revealed how much it intends to charge for the ROG Strix XG259QNS yet. However, we expect the gaming monitor to arrive for roughly as much as the XG259QN, which retails for $449 in the US. Unfortunately, ASUS has not outlined when it intends to start selling the ROG Strix XG259QNS, nor in which markets.
