iPhone 16 depicted as 2024 flagship with almost 2020-style camera hump in new renders
Apple's vanilla iPhones have stuck with the same diagonal dual rear camera lay-out for their last few generations now. However, an increasing number of leak channels are apparently coming to believe that the upcoming 16 will actually revert to a more classic style in 2024, with the Apple Hub Twitter/X account, for example, predicting that it will turn out looking like a cross between 2 former flagships: the iPhone X and the 11.
That projection is based on new renders that depict an iPhone that does indeed seem to take the vertical dual rear camera hump up once again. Then again, it, like the rumored iPad Air 12.9, shunts the LED flash to one side out onto the rear panel, thus leaving a clean pill of lenses more like that of the X (or XS) than anything.
Nevertheless, the device as depicted is thought to be the 16, as its display sports an up-to-date Dynamic Island cut-out, not to mention an Action Button.
As these images are presented as a "concept" by well-known leaker Majin Bu "in collaboration with @upintheozone", they might need to be taken with a grain of salt at this early stage - then again, the same renders are based on a "schematic" also posted by the same tipster, as are those of Apple Hub, elaborated on with a range of iPhone 15-esque colors in that case.
Should any of these new graphics prove accurate, the surprisingly old-school design choice is also likely to appear on the iPhone 16 Plus, as its variant is typically mimics the looks of its smaller entry-level sibling.
