iPhone 15 Ultra could add more real estate to Dynamic Island with a second selfie camera sensor
Although it is a year away from launch, multiple leaks have already started talking about next year's proverbial king of the hill, the iPhone 15 Ultra (formerly known as the iPhone 15 Pro Max). Among other things, it is slated to bring a USB Type-C port and a periscope-style telephoto lens. The high-end smartphone will also be the first of its kind to ship with two front-facing cameras, according to Twitter leaker @MajinBuOfficial.
The iPhone 15 Ultra's dual-selfie camera configuration should fit right into the Dynamic Island aesthetic, as exhibited by the recently launched Xiaomi CIVI 2. It'll be interesting to see how Apple manages to fit two camera sensors and all the Face ID hardware in that notch, which, hopefully, should get a tad smaller next generation. Lastly, the "base" iPhone 15 Ultra variant will ship with at least 256 GB of memory. The lower end models, on the other hand, will have to make do with 128 GB.
The leaker adds that the iPhone 15 Ultra's younger sibling, the iPhone 15 Pro, will ship with only one selfie camera, but keep the USB-C port. The non-pro models (iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus) might hold on to the Lightning port and run an A16 Bionic SoC instead of the TSMC N3E-based A17. One can only hope that Apple upgrades its USB data transfer speed to something more modern, given that it is restricted to a paltry 480 Mbps.
