Apple may call its USB-C iPhone the iPhone 15 Ultra
The iPhone 14 series has only just been launched and there is already detailed opinion about the likely iPhone 15 range coming in 2023. There have been leaks and rumors about next-year’s offering already, including the possibility that Apple might even produce a truly portless iPhone. Both Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo have been discussing the future of the iPhone with their followers and have come to a similar conclusion: The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, if those names are used, will be a lot more different to each other than the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are.
In fact, while Ming-Chi Kuo skirts around the issue a little by saying “Apple will also start creating differentiation” but without offering specifics or predictions, Mark Gurman simply goes with “Ultra is coming”. The Bloomberg writer first made this indication after talking about the new Apple Watch Ultra, exclaiming “Ultra shows up today on the Apple Watch. Expect it for the iPhone in the next couple of years”. He doesn’t specifically mention an iPhone 15 Ultra, but this could be on the cards as after Ming-Chi Kuo made his comments, Gurman reiterated his belief that an iPhone Ultra is on the way.
Of course, such a move would make good financial sense for Apple too, but then fans would expect a lot from an iPhone 15 Ultra, beyond it possibly being the first USB-C iPhone. A souped-up A17 chip would likely be on the menu, and many have the belief that Apple will introduce a periscope camera for the premium device in the iPhone 15 range, which would be a great selling point to differentiate a potential iPhone 15 Ultra model from the rest of the series. Undoubtedly, Apple would take its fantastic Dynamic Island notch solution to a whole new level as well, with the iPhone 15 Ultra/iPhone 15 Pro Max receiving a complete feature set.
