MagyarApple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus rumored to get iPhone 15 Pro-level RAM and better Wi-Fi
Apple released the latest iPhone 15 series of smartphones in September with the introduction of the iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Plus, the iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Although the devices are still pretty fresh, the rumor mill is churning out iPhone 16 leaks nonstop. From the small Dynamic Island of the iPhone 16 Pro to the now archaic 60 Hz refresh rate for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, we have a lot of information regarding the 2024 iPhone 16 lineup.
Now, thanks to analyst Jeff Pu (via MacRumors), we have the supposed RAM and Wi-Fi configuration of the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus.
Per the analyst, both the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus will get 2 GB more RAM than their iPhone 15 counterparts, resulting in 8 GB of memory for the duo. The purported change will bring the RAM capacity in line with the iPhone 16 Pro and the Pro Max which are also rumored to get 8 GB of memory.
It is important to remember that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus only make do with 6 GB of RAM while the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max (Available on Amazon) enjoy 8 GB. Like the presence of a 60 Hz display, 6 GB of RAM on a $799 phone ($899 in the case of iPhone 15 Plus) is disappointing when you consider that competing Android flagships like the Galaxy S23 (Available on Amazon) and the cheaper Google Pixel 8 (Available on Amazon) both have 8 GB of memory.
So, if the rumor of Apple upgrading the RAM on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus ends up being accurate, it would make the phones look much better vs their Android rivals, at least on paper.
Moving on, Jeff Pu also alleges that the iPhone 16 and the 16 Plus will get Wi-Fi 6E, an upgrade over the iPhone 15/15 Plus.
With the addition of a possible A17 Pro SoC, thinner build, Taptic Action Button, and more, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus could be substantial upgrades over their predecessors. That said, we are still months away from hearing anything official from Apple, so take these rumors with a grain of salt.
