Dell releases three new Alienware gaming laptops with Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090

Dell kicked off the week by announcing a series of new Alienware gaming laptops. Announced simultaneously, the new Alienware 16X Aurora, Alienware 16 Area-51 and Alienware 18 Area-51 all benefit from Intel's new Arrow Lake HX Plus processors.
Initially, Dell did not confirm pricing for these new variants. However, all three have now gone on sale in the US. For reference, existing Core Ultra 7 255HX and Core Ultra 9 275HX variants remain. Now, they have been joined by the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, which contains a few changes from the older Core Ultra 9 285HX.

By default, Dell charges $2,919 for the new Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus version of the Alienware 16X Aurora. Meanwhile, equivalent versions of the Area-51 16 and Area-51 18 run to $4,899 and $4,999, respectively. Opting for a 'build your own' configuration drops these prices significantly, though. Currently, charges the following for its minimum Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus configurations:
Alienware 16X Aurora
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 240 Hz OLED - $2,119
Alienware 16 Area-51
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 240 Hz OLED - $3,569.99
Alienware 18 Area-51
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 300 Hz IPS-level - $3,669.99
All machines can be optioned up to 64 GB RAM, though. Also, while the 16X Aurora tops out at a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, Dell offers its two Area-51 laptops with up to a GeForce RTX 5090. Currently, the 16 Area-51 and 18 Area-51 can be configured to around $8,500.
