Asahi Linux Remix 43 brings the latest Fedora to Apple silicon Macs

Asahi Linux, available for around three years now, is a project that aims to bring a polished Linux experience to Apple's silicon Macs. Asahi Linux Remix targets a specific distro, namely Fedora. Obviously, this spin brings together the features that all Fedora users get to enjoy, as well as Apple hardware-exclusive pieces of code. Yesterday, Asahi Linux Remix 43 landed with all the Fedora 43 goodies alongside some improvements for Macs.
Without further ado, these are the highlights of Asahi Linux Remix 43:
- Package management upgrades: RPM 6.0 and the DNF5 backend for PackageKit.
- KDE Plasma 6.6 desktop, with a GNOME 49 variant also available.
- Custom Calamares-based installer.
- Mac Pro support.
- The MacBook Pro 14/16 models' built-in displays get a 120 Hz refresh rate.
- Support for microphones of M2 Pro/Max MacBooks.
In addition to the standard version, Asahi Linux Remix 43 also comes in a Fedora Server variant, which targets server workloads and various other types of headless deployments. A minimal image is also available for those who want to have complete control over their operating system and customize their experience from scratch. The latest versions, as well as the previous ones, can be retrieved from here.
Systems that are currently running Asahi Linux Remix 41 or 42 can be upgraded following the usual Fedora upgrade process (those who haven't done this in the past should check this page for all the details). Sadly, the GNOME Software application cannot be used to perform the upgrade, so the KDE Plasma Discover software manager or DNF's System Upgrade command should be employed instead.
