Fedora-based Origami Linux 2026.03 launches with the 6.19.3 kernel and COSMIC 1.0.8

After spending some time in beta, Origami Linux is finally out of it. The current version, labeled 2026.03, is available in two flavors: a standard one and one tailored for Nvidia hardware. Both images include the CachyOS kernel by default (6.19.3), alongside the COSMIC desktop (1.0.8) and Fedora Atomic base.
In addition to the elements mentioned above, it should also be mentioned that Origami Linux comes with Distrobox integration for isolated development environments that allows keeping the host clean while maintaining multiple project containers. Additionally, this distro replaces legacy tools with Rust-powered alternatives: eza instead of ls, bat instead of cat, and grep gets replaced by ripgrep. Origami Linux also comes with several new development tools that are available out-of-the-box: Helix, LazyGit, Micro, Yazi, Hyperline, Procs, Zellij, and du-dust.
The list of features also includes Fastfetch system info, Starship prompt, custom color themes and terminal art tools, Zen Browser and Cloudflare Warp integration, the Surge downloader, cava audio visualization, Rust-powered replacements for sudo, system monitoring tools, and coreutils.
As it happens with many Linux distros available today, Origami only works with 64-bit processors. This new era in the development of the project promises to deliver "a continuously updated, unbreakable, and hyper-optimized Linux desktop" for all users, including those who are just getting started with Linux.
