Ultralight Arch-based PrismLinux 2026.03.05 arrives as a major release

Based on Arch, PrismLinux promises to provide a performance-focused experience with support for less potent hardware setups. Born in Ukraine, this distro includes a LiveCD with a graphical installer with support for multiple desktop environments but also comes with pre-configured optimized kernels, such as Liquorix and Zen. Today's update, labeled 2026.03.05, is a major release with a full installer redesign with Electrobun migration, support for Russian and German, Nvidia improvements, and much more.
Without any further ado, these are the highlights of the generous list of new features, tweaks, and fixes:
- The installer has undergone a complete overhaul, featuring localization fixes, improved password support, an increased number of packages, Firefox as the default browser for all desktop environments, and support for SSH on the LiveCD.
- VLC got replaced with mpv in Plasma settings.
- Some system scripts were migrated to Python.
- Backend: Fixes for old packages, overhauled repository, and improved performance.
- Improved gaming performance has been achieved through the use of ananicy-cpp.
- Maple Mono is now available in the PrismLinux repository.
- Full Nvidia support on the LiveCD.
- COSMIC got Kvantum, and updated out-of-the-box applets.
- PrismLinux About became PrismLinux Hello, with refreshed looks.
In addition to the above, a custom package manager is currently in development, and more details about it should surface in the coming months.
The size of the ISO is 1.76 GB, and the list of system requirements consists of a 64-bit processor, 2 GB of memory (8 GB recommended), and 30 GB of disk space. The download can be accessed via the official website, on this page (the file is hosted on SourceForge).
