Live distro Oreon 10-2603 intros the Centrio installer while switching from XFS to Btrfs

Red Hat Enterprise Linux has spawned a long list of derivatives over the years. The most popular ones are AlmaLinux, Oracle Linux, and NethServer, all three of which are still active. Some of the distros that have ceased production or are completely outdated were quite renowned back in the day, and probably the most popular name in this list is CentOS. Although it has been around for less than five years, AlmaLinux has spawned several derivatives already. Today, the spotlight is on Oreon, a live distro built by people involved in the Linux/FOSS community, which just received a new update that comes with a decade of support.
Leaving the extended support period aside, Oreon 10-2603 comes with quite a few other noticeable changes. These are the highlights of this update's changelog:
- Anaconda was replaced with Centrio Installer.
- During OS setup, Nvidia driver detection and optional automatic installation were added.
- The installation process now includes the option to select a default web browser, with several choices available.
- Flatpak now enabled by default, but there's an option to disable it during installation.
- Installation bundles are available for various tasks such as development, gaming, and office work.
- The default filesystem is now Btrfs (previously XFS), with several other options available during setup.
- System branding and logos updated with cleaner, properly sized assets.
- The system now features DNS management that is resolved by systemd.
While targeting desktop users, Oreon 10 is available in two flavors: x86_64 for Intel and AMD chips (1671 MB), as well as aarch64 for ARM64 hardware (1362 MB). Intel and AMD users can also take Oreon Lime (R2) for a spin but should be aware that this older stable release, while based on AlmaLinux 9 and still receiving updates, is no longer recommended for new installations.
Unsurprisingly, the downloads can be retrieved via the official website (see the link below).
