Arch-based Bluestar Linux 6.18.9 drops with a new kernel, Firefox 148, LibreOffice 26.2.1, and more

Born in Germany and based on Arch Linux, Bluestar returns with version 6.18.9. After spending several years with Firefox as the default browser, this distro added Chromium alongside it at the end of last year, when it began supporting Flatpak packages alongside the old-school pkg files. This update upgrades the kernel to 6.18.13 and introduces new versions for most essential packages.
These are some of the updated packages worth mentioning:
- alsa-lib 1.2.15.3
- bind 9.20.19
- firefox 148
- gimp 3.0.8
- LibreOffice 26.2.1
- mesa 26.0.1
- NVIDIA 590.48.01
- plasma-desktop 6.6.1
- Python 3.14.3
- qt 6.10.2
- samba 4.23.5
- systemd 259.1
- vim 9.2
As previously, a single ISO file is available for download (see the SourceForge link below). This time, its size reaches 6.2 GB. The long name of the update is bslx-6.18.13-1-2026.02.26-x86_64. It should also be highlighted that the versions available remain Desktop, Deskpro, and Developer.
As a final note to new users, it should be mentioned that Bluestar Linux can be also tested as a live system which provides support for persistent storage.
