The new all-rounder from Asus arms itself with a mid-range graphics card to tackle the multimedia world. The new VivoBook is not only slim and sleek but is also fast. However, the Asus product must admit defeat in certain aspects of the competition.

At the end of the day, if you think this laptop is a joke for having an i3 CPU and soldered RAM, obviously you’re not the targeted consumer for this laptop. For students and non-power users out there who value portability, battery life and affordability, the ASUS VivoBook K403 is a great choice, especially with the speedy 512GB PCIe SSD.

The Asus VivoBook Ultra K403 addresses the classic pain points of an entry-level notebook as it introduces a large sized screen in a compact MIL-STD-801G rated tough chassis, enough performance for daily computing needs and outstanding battery life. Ideal for students and the butter-fingered looking for a daily computing workhorse.

Asus VivoBook 14 X412FJ-EB023T
The Asus VivoBook 14 is a compact laptop that immerses users in whatever they set out to do. Its new frameless four-sided NanoEdge display boasts an ultra-slim 5.7 mm bezel, giving an amazing 87 % screen-to-body ratio for supremely immersive visuals. The new ErgoLift hinge design also tilts the keyboard up for more comfortable typing. The VivoBook 14 is powered by the latest Intel Core i5 processor with a dedicated Nvidia GeForce MX230 graphics unit and dual storage drives to help to get things done with the least amount of fuss. Its dual-storage design gives both superfast data performance and large storage capacity. It also features Intel’s latest Optane memory technology, so apps load faster and multitasking feels smoother. User will get the best of both worlds, with SSD-like levels of performance and the large storage space afforded by a traditional hard drive. The new frameless four-sided NanoEdge display keeps dimensions down to a minimum, giving the VivoBook 14 a footprint that’s appreciably smaller than its predecessor. It takes up less space on the desk, leaving more room for users. Besides that, the new frameless four-sided NanoEdge design gives the VivoBook 14 an almost-bezel-free display with vast amounts of screen area and extremely immersive visuals, for work and play. Even with the ultra-slim bezel, a pleasing HD camera is accommodated on the top bezel for video chat with family and friends a world away. What’s more, it’s available in four unique finishes to suit the user’s style. User can choose Transparent Silver for a sophisticated look, or go for Slate Grey for a more understated approach. They can set the trend with the uniquely iridescent Peacock Blue: a unique option that changes color when the user looks at it from different angles. And if the user really wants to stand out, there’s Coral Crush with its bright finish. As for connectivity, the VivoBook 14 is equipped with the reversible USB Type-C port, featuring an any-way-up design that makes connecting devices as easy as possible. It also delivers data transfer speeds that are up to 10x faster than older USB 2.0 connections! There are USB 3.1 and USB 2.0 ports, HDMI output, and a microSD card reader, so users can easily connect all their current peripherals, displays and projectors with zero hassle. The VivoBook 14 keeps users going for longer thanks to a high-quality lithium-polymer battery for all-day computing. Integrated Asus exclusive, the Asus Battery Health Charging technology helps protect the battery from overcharging. This prolongs battery lifespan and reduce the chance of damage from battery swelling, keeping the battery in tip-top condition. As a conclusion, the Asus VivoBook 14 X412FJ MX230 is both stylish and delivers decent performance. It is compact but still allows users to see more with its slim edge display. It is suitable for users who are looking for a laptop which is lightweight, portable and decent in performance. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamSpecifications

The Asus VivoBook 14 hits the sweet spot, for the most part, when you consider the features and performance you get for this price. The model we reviewed has an official selling price (MOP) of Rs. 54,990 but this does fluctuate a bit with offers and during sales, which can bring it lower to even Rs. 48,990, which is what it's going for currently. It's tough to find any other 14-inch laptop with these specifications at this online price. Add to that, the excellent build quality, modern design, and compact size, and you have yourself a very good work laptop.

At Php 39,995, the X403’s asking price is on the higher end of the spectrum considering it only uses a Core i3 processor and that it cannot be upgraded further. While there are a bunch of things that can make the X403 stand out—512GB NVMe SSD, and 72Wh battery, and aluminum build—it will face tough competition against its rivals who offer a Core i5 Processor at roughly the same price. The X403 is aimed at a specific market: not to those who are into content creation, but more towards digital professionals who are always on the go and have to deal with tons of emails, documents, and presentations on a daily basis.

ASUS is only bringing one variant of the X403 to the Philippines. The configuration consists of a Core-i3-8145U processor, HD Graphics 620 integrated GPU, 4GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and comes in silver blue. Unlike the VivoBook X412, you cannot upgrade the RAM and SSD on the X403—both are soldered into the motherboard.

Asus VivoBook 14 X412FJ-EK215T
The Asus VivoBook 14 is an interesting entry to the VivoBook series. Tethering between the identity of a colorful fun-sized laptop and an exponential travel-friendly working tool, the Asus VivoBook 14 shows a lot of promise in various departments when it comes to looks and also performance. The Asus VivoBook 14 is a compact laptop featuring a frameless four-sided NanoEdge design for the ultimate immersion experience. Its 14-inch FHD display stretches considerably close to the edges of the entire frontal display. With a 87 % screen-to-body ratio coupled with a measured 5.7 millimeters of ultra-slim bezel, users can already preview almost everything in front of them with vivid vibrancy topped with a 178 degree wide viewing angle for an overreaching vastness right before their very eyes. The compact size of the Asus VivoBook 14 makes it an amiable companion to travel around with. The frameless four-sided NanoEdge display reduces dimensions down to a minimum in which the user can fully take advantage of the Asus VivoBook 14’s miniature size. The Asus VivoBook 14 occupies lesser space compared to most existing laptops that are floating around in the market and also can be casually fitted into a travel bag with perfect ease. Its lightweight property, which comes with its default nature for being a friendly compact-sized laptop, reduces the burden of carrying redundant weight on the shoulders. The Asus VivoBook 14 only weighs up to a mere 1.5 kilograms in approximation and it is arguably lighter than carrying a stack of papers. In addition, the Asus VivoBook 14 comes in a variety of colors guaranteed to capture any potential customer’s attention. From a rather extensive range of colors such as Transparent Silver, Peacock Blue, Slate Grey, and also Coral Crush, one would only need to choose a themed color which matches the personal style. It is worth noting that the Asus VivoBook 14 is equipped with a rather intriguing NVIDIA GeForce MX230 graphics processing unit. NVIDIA GeForce graphics processing units are most commonly associated and found in the construction of gaming laptops. The integration of one such brand within the Asus VivoBook 14 begs various interesting questions to be answered. For instance, the NVIDIA GeForce MX230 not only permits several titles of modern Triple A (AAA) games to run smoothly on its compact-sized physique, but the GeForce MX230 also supercharges the Asus VivoBook 14 with 2.6 times faster performance over integrated graphics for photo and video-editing applications. This makes the Asus VivoBook 14 not only ideal for work, but also a reliable companion to candidly play games on. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamSpecifications

What the ASUS VivoBook 14 X412F is offering is a laptop with a nice design, generous I/O, a nice-looking screen with thin bezels, and good price-to-performance ratio. Asus has equipped the VivoBook 14 with a 72-Wh battery that ensures an excellent battery life. The rest of the equipment is also right: a Core-i5 processor, 16 GB of working memory (dual-channel mode), an SSD, and a matte IPS display. A Windows operating system is not included.

The Asus VivoBook 14 X403 is a finely engineered product with many special qualities. The comfortably compact fourteen-incher delivers a remarkably long battery life, which makes it ideal for users whose work forces them to be away from the wall socket for many hours at a stretch. The Asus E410 is no doubt a competitive choice when it comes to budget laptops. The decent battery life, responsive performance and lightweight feel all tick the right boxes for a device that will get you through the basic tasks. However, the odd rear design, numerical keypad and dim screen may be off-putting for some. If you can get over these niggles, then this is one to consider – especially if you’re a student who is in need of a laptop to take to lectures.

The Asus Vivobook 14 is a little tricky to recommend entirely, but it poses a lot of potential. The build is reasonably solid, it has a decent collection of ports, the battery life is long enough, and it can perform basic everyday tasks well. On the downside, the screen is poor, and if you want to do anything beyond basic tasks, it may not be the best laptop for your needs. Having said that, remember it costs pennies, and those compromises look a lot more reasonable. If you’re looking for an affordable laptop with good performance and very good battery life, the Asus Vivobook 14 E410MA gets as good as it can get. If you don’t mind a ChromeOS, the Asus Chromebook C425 is also a good choice to consider.

The ASUS Vivobook Go 14 is a competent, budget-friendly laptop that caters to users with basic computing needs. It excels in providing essential functionality at an extremely competitive price point, making it an attractive option for consumers seeking a secondary device, or anyone operating on a tight budget. Apart from that, the combination of a decent build quality, a comfortable keyboard, and sufficient port selection makes it a practical choice for everyday use. However, those who can stretch their budget might find better performance in slightly higher-priced alternatives with more powerful processors. It’s important to weigh the pros and cons based on your specific needs. If you require a laptop for basic tasks such as web browsing, document editing, and media consumption, the Vivobook Go 14 is an excellent choice. However, for more demanding applications, investing in a higher-end model might be worthwhile.

From its plastic shell to its poor performance, and not very good battery life. The ASUS E410 is a laptop that is built on the promises of compromises. You get this, but we take away that. This is where a bigger question comes in – do you really need a laptop? Are you willing to sacrifice your sanity to use the E410? Well, we are joking (of course). But really, if you want to remain intact, go for the Pentium iterations. Windows 11 really sucks on two cores. ASUS E410’s TN panel has a Full HD resolution. Its backlight doesn’t use PWM, while the pixel response times are really fast. On the other hand, the screen has very narrow viewing angles, a low contrast ratio, and limited color coverage (53% of sRGB). This makes the overall viewing experience pretty poor. This leads us to the other options – a 768p TN unit, which should be banned with a decree by the Pope, and a 1080p IPS panel. The latter is the choice you want to make, regardless of the price. Thankfully, ASUS has given you one M.2 PCIe lot to play with. We are not sure if the slot will persist, should you get an eMMC flash storage upon purchase. However, it is still good to see one. Plus, it supports NVMe drives! Expectedly, the port selection is not great – you lack an SD card slot, and one of the USB Type-As is 2.0. However, we’ve seen worse. So, would we recommend this product? Well, no. We wouldn’t. But honestly, there is nothing in this class that we would rather push you towards. Instead, if you really don’t have the budget for something better, make sure you get two things – a Pentium CPU, and an IPS panel. The other stuff is not that bad.

Clearly, the 90Hz OLED panel is the winner here. If you are someone who wants a laptop for regular use, works on MS Office, and presentations, do lighter photo and video edits, and watches a lot of video content and even for browsing, the OLED panel especially is a deal clincher here. This is not a laptop for heavy games or heavy software but otherwise, the i15 12-gen should be good enough for most normal use cases.

The Vivobook 14 OLED’s marketability lies in its splendid display capabilities along with its portable form factor. As a daily driver for office work, while also acting as a media consumption aid, the laptop makes for a good buy. Of course, there are areas of improvement for things like sound quality or battery life, but for the average user, the Vivobook 14 OLED is an enticing option.

The ASUS Vivobook 14 Flip is a great machine for everyday productivity and portability and has excellent battery life. The OLED display is stunning, and it has adequate connectivity options for daily use. The 2-in-1 form factor makes it easy to consume content, especially when lying on a bed, without worrying about blocking the intake vents for thermal management. While the device has a stylus, I will let more capable designers judge that aspect. What it lacks is that the display can get very reflective under direct sunlight, and the touchpad could have some markings for the ASUS Smart Gestures. The Intel Core Ultra 7-256V powering this laptop lacks pure synthetic CPU numbers compared to the AMD Ryzen 9-HX 370 available on similarly priced laptops.

The Asus Vivobook 14 Flip is one of those laptops that just works. For Rs 96,990 (Ultra 5 version) or Rs 1,11,990 (Ultra 7 version, which I tested), it’s a great all-rounder that balances work and play effortlessly. The OLED display is gorgeous — whether you’re binge-watching Netflix or editing photos, the colours pop, and the details shine. The keyboard and trackpad are a joy to use, and the performance handles everyday tasks with ease. Even light gaming is doable, which is a nice bonus. That said, it’s not perfect. The AI features, while promising, feel a bit half-baked right now. The Copilot key didn’t add much to my workflow, and the full potential of the NPU is still waiting to be unlocked.

To conclude, the Asus Vivobook 14 Flip is a good attempt by the company to provide a practical 2-in-1 to the customers. The laptop offers a premium design that is also durable. The display is vibrant and offers rich colours. The performance is top-notch, and the dedicated NPU makes it future proof. So, if you are looking for a 2-in-1 laptop for productivity and some light gaming and your budget is under Rs. 1 lakh, then consider this model.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
