Reviews for the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X20
The new Asus ROG Xbox Ally X20 gets a slightly updated chassis including a stunning new 7.4-inch OLED screen with 120 Hz and VRR. It does not hurt the battery life, either, but inside you still get the old AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme SoC, which cannot keep up with Intel's Arc G3 Extreme chip.

Last year, when I first saw the Xbox Ally X and its $1,000 price tag, I was surprised in a bad way, and yet the memory crisis has worsened to such a state that it now seems fairly reasonable. I don't see the same happening for the X20, but I can say that I've softened on it significantly since getting time with it every single day.

AMD Radeon 890M: The most powerful AMD iGPU as of mid 2024. It features 16 RDNA 3.5 architecture CUs (1024 unified shaders) running at up to 2,900 MHz. On average, the 890M finds itself very close to the GTX 1650 Laptop making it possible to play 2024 AAA games at 1080p with most settings set to Low.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Ryzen Z2 Extreme: A relatively powerful Strix Point family processor for handhelds with a mix of three Zen 5 and five Zen 5c cores running at 2 - 5 GHz. Compared to the similar Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360, the Z2 Extreme does not offer the Ryzen AI NPU.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
