CES 2020 | Amazfit unveils its PowerBuds and ZenBuds
Huami, a wearables maker that sells its products under the increasingly well-known brand name Amazfit, had promised new audio products for its CES 2020 showcase. With not 1 but 2 new pairs of truly wireless earbuds (or TWS earbuds), it has certainly delivered.
The PowerBuds and ZenBuds are new Amazfit devices clearly aimed at different audiences. The IP55-rated former weigh only 7 grams (g) and come with their own type of magnetic earhooks. They attach to the rest of each PowerBud with what Huami calls the "Plug-to-Go" system. Therefore, the buds are clearly intended for use while exercising.
The OEM claims that they deliver high-fidelity audio with their "inclined" in-ear design and immersive Motion Beat Mode. The Amazfit PowerBuds also have a form of "Transparency" called Thru Mode, and are rated for 8 hours' worth of playback (or 24 with their USB type C charging case).
The ZenBuds, on the other hand, are directed at much less active use. Huami claims that, with their passive noise cancellation and the Knowles balanced armature found in their driver-chamber, they can insulate the wearer from their environment so as to promote relaxation. Alternatively, they can emit "soothing" sounds to improve sleep while using them. The user can also set an alarm on the ZenBuds, so that it can also be used to help wakefulness the next morning.
Huami also claims that the ZenBuds' smart features can also gather data on heart-rate and other health metrics in order to adapt to the user so as to further improve their sleep in the future. The company aims to have Amazfit PowerBuds ready for sale in February 2020, and currently estimates their retail price at about US$99. It was less specific on the subject of the ZenBuds, although it believes they will also be available some time this year.
