The Amazfit T-Rex is this brand's first smartwatch of 2020. With its MIL-STD-810G rating and 14 sports modes, it is clearly intended for rugged pursuits. Its maker has also updated its Bip series with the S variant, a watch with a 40-day battery life and health-focused AI features.

Amazfit is known for its smartwatches; however, none of them have been particularly directed at those looking for a rugged wearable for the outdoors. A member of the brand's new 2020 line-up changes that. The T-Rex comes with a MIL-STD-810G rating for durability and 5ATM water-resistance.

It is conferred by the new watch's polymer case, which also protects the display with a raised bezel. This panel measures 1.3 inches and is made of always-on AMOLED with a 360x360 resolution. Inside, Amazfit has packed it with GPS/GLONASS and an up-to-20 day battery. The T-Rex also has a BioTracker PPG optical sensor for 24-hour heart-rate tracking.

This wearable comes in Army Green, Camo Green, Khaki, Rock Black or Gun Gray options. Those looking for less military-themed colors in their new wearable might consider the Amazfit Bip S instead. This watch comes in a more Apple Watch-like form factor, as opposed to the round screen of the T-Rex. The OEM has not detailed its dimensions or panel type, besides to mention that it will (perhaps like the Stratos3) be "transflective".

The Bip S weighs only 30 grams for easy all-day wear, while also offering 5ATM and GPS specs. Amazfit claims that its battery can last for up to 40 days. It is also the first watch from this brand to integrate Huami-PAI, a "personal activity indicator" designed to keep the user updated as to their health status and progress.

Amazfit will release the T-Rex later in January 2020, and price it at approximately US$140. The Bip S does not have an estimated price yet, but should become available in February.
