Smartphones and phablets aside, Xiaomi does not sell many products in the US via the official channels nowadays. Obviously, those interested can always purchase a wide range of Xiaomi products from various Chinese online stores, but shipping can sometimes take forever, not to mention the import fees that could push the price beyond the "reasonable" threshold. Fortunately, the Xiaomi Huami Amazfit Bit smartwatch is now entering the US market officially, not long after making its debut in China.
The Amazfit Bip has an always-on 1.28-inch color touchscreen display protected using a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer. This smart wearable is IP68-rated for protection from dust, splashes, and rain. It weighs just 1.1 ounces and the 190 mAh battery can provide up to 45 days of autonomy. However, this does not mean that Xiaomi had to remove the GPS tracking abilities since the Amazfit Bip comes with built-in GLONASS support, an optical heart rate sensor, a barometer, as well as a compass.
Compatible with both Android and iOS devices, the Amazfit Bip connects to them via Bluetooth 4.0 LE and can deliver multiple notifications to your wrist, such as calls, texts, emails, and so on. When combined with the Mi Fit app, it can also analyze sleep patterns.
The four color options to choose from are Onyx Black, Cinnabar Red, Kokoda Green, and White Cloud. Orders can be placed directly on Amazfit's website, but shipments are expected to begin next month. For US$99.99, this smart wearable with a design (heavily) inspired by the Apple Watch looks like a tempting choice. For Xiaomi fans in the US, it is definitely a "must buy" device, and it would not be a surprise to see the Amazfit Bip soon followed by the Mi Air smart air purifier or the company's handheld electric mop (no joke here).
