The Sony FES Watch U smartwatch finally coming to Europe next month
The Sony FES Watch U needed a long time to make it out of Japan, but now this so-called "fashion watch" that features an E-Ink display and an E-Ink band that can be customized as needed is finally ready to take on the European market. Sadly, this original wearable that retails starting below the equivalent of US$500 in Japan is supposed to retail for almost US$700 and up across the old continent.
Although there is not much to say about this smart wearable's functionality, we should highlight the fact that the Sony FES Watch U is a fashion accessory before anything else. This fact has been confirmed when the FES Watch U won the iF DESIGN AWARD 2018 and Good Design Award of 2017 in Japan.
The Sony FES Watch U is compatible with both Android and iOS handsets, features a rechargeable battery, and has been rated IPX5/7 for protection from water. Until now, this smart wearable was only available in Japan, mainland China, and Hong Kong. The countries that will be added to the list next month are Spain, Germany, Italy, France, and the UK. Sadly, the prices will start at 599 EUR (the equivalent of almost US$700).
What do you think about the value this wearable can provide to European users? Is it worth the aforementioned price? Maybe buying one directly from Japan for a much better price can finally be a good enough excuse to finally make that trip to Godzilla's country, after all.
