Fitbit has announced a special Adidas Edition of its recently released Ionic smartwatch. This is the first result of a collaboration between both companies. The Ionic Adidas Edition features a watch face designed by Adidas, a unique band, and a built-in Adidas Train application.

The Fitbit Ionic smartwatch was introduced in August of last year and made its way to the market a couple of months later. The wearable features a digital Fitbit Coach, water resistance up to 50 meters deep as well as a heart rate sensor. Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS are also supported. The watch runs on Fitbit OS and has 2.5 GB of usable storage for apps and music. The fitness wearables company has now announced a new version of the Ionic smartwatch in collaboration with one of the largest sports brands in the world, Adidas.

The Fitbit Ionic: Adidas Edition is the first result of a collaboration that both companies announced last year. This co-branded smartwatch forms an interesting contrast with the Apple Watch Nike+. Aside from the usual health, fitness and smartwatch functionality, the Adidas edition will come with a unique Adidas Train app preloaded with six different workouts.

There are some exterior changes as well. The watch band is uniquely designed and features a color combination of Ink Blue and Ice Grey. The frame of the Ionic itself is made out of aluminum. The standard watch face is also custom made and is available in four different colors.

The Fitbit Ionic: Adidas Edition costs US$329 is available for pre-order. The smartwatch will hit the shelves on March 19th.
