AYANEO announces release dates for Pocket DMG and Pocket Micro retro gaming handhelds
AYANEO has now announced the launch date for two of its unreleased gaming handhelds. For reference, AYANEO also has the Pocket EVO in development, as well as the AM01S mini-PC and AG01 eGPU. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when these three products will be available.
By contrast, the company states that it will launch the Pocket DMG and Pocket Micro simultaneously on July 31. Erroneously, AYANEO states that the pair will be available from 08:00 EST. Given that Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) is currently observed, we suspect that pre-orders will open at 12:00 UTC, not 11:00 UTC.
At any rate, the Pocket DMG and Pocket Micro will target different experiences thanks to AYANEO's chipset choices. Specifically, the Pocket DMG features the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2, which it already offers in the Pocket S (curr. $752.95 on Amazon). While Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 is one of the most powerful chipsets available for Android gaming handhelds, the MediaTek Helio G99 inside the Pocket Micro will restrict it to games from systems like the GameCube, PlayStation 2 or PlayStation Portable. Seemingly, both devices will launch globally on Indiegogo, although it remains to be seen for how much at this stage.
