AYANEO Pocket EVO shown as new high-end Android gaming handheld with more power than AYN Odin2 or Odin2 Mini
Less than a week has passed since AYANEO first showcased the Pocket EVO. To recap, the company confirmed that the device would feature a 7-inch display, a 1-inch increase diagonally on the Pocket S. While the Pocket EVO also outputs at 1080p, it relies upon a 120 Hz OLED panel, unlike the 60 Hz IPS equivalent inside the Pocket S.
As promised, AYANEO has now revealed more information about the Pocket EVO, screenshots of which we have embedded below. Like the Pocket DMG and Pocket S before it, the Pocket EVO utilises Qualcomm's Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 chipset. Consequently, the device should be more powerful than the AYN Odin2 (curr. $449 on Amazon), one of the go-tos for a high-end Android gaming handheld experience. Moreover, the inclusion of a rear-mounted vent implies that the Pocket EVO will offer better thermal performance than the Pocket S, which struggled with thermal throttling in some independent reviews.
Furthermore, AYANEO has confirmed that the Pocket EVO has hall effect joysticks and triggers, as well as HD linear motors. On top of that, the company has teased that the device features a circa-8,000 mAh battery, which would be between a 33% and 50% improvement over the battery inside the Pocket S. While AYANEO has not confirmed a launch date yet, more details about the Pocket EVO can be found on the device's Indiegogo campaign page.
