RG40XX H: Anbernic confirms release of yet another compact retro gaming handheld after RG Cube aimed at emulating up to PlayStation Portable games
The RG Cube (curr. $249.99 on Amazon) has barely got out of the starting blocks, having been released at the start of June. Nonetheless, Anbernic has confirmed that it is days away from opening pre-orders for the RG40XX H, two weeks after the device's official debut. As expected, the RG40XX H comes in three colour options that Anbernic intends to sell as black, blue and grey.
For context, Anbernic had already confirmed that the device has a 4-inch IPS display that outputs at 640 x 480 pixels in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Additionally, the RG40XX H features an Allwinner H700 chipset and 1 GB of LPDDR4 RAM, just like recent RG35XX series options. Moreover, the device has a 3,200 mAh battery that Anbernic rates for up to 6 hours of usage between charges.
Furthermore, Anbernic equips the RG40XX H with a USB Type-C port, a single speaker and a 3.5 mm jack, plus a HDMI port. Also, the device has two microSD card readers, albeit only one of which is populated with a card by default. The RG40XX H will be available on July 12 at 22:00 UTC for $64.99 with a 64 GB microSD card. Alternatively, the device will be orderable with 128 GB and 256 GB additional microSD cards for $79.99 and $94.99, respectively. Please see Retro Game Corps' review below for further details.
