Analogue Pocket gets a pricey limited-edition refresh
The Analogue Pocket is getting yet another refresh. This gaming handheld was first launched in December 2021 at $220, and the company has now announced an aluminum version of the gaming handheld. However, this isn't the first time it's seen a refresh. The company launched limited-edition color variants, a glow-in-the-dark version, and a transparent version last year.
For the latest refresh, Analogue has decided to go premium, fitting the gaming handheld that can run Game Boy games with an aluminum body. This new refresh is also a limited edition, and four different colors will be available: indigo, black, noir, and natural. However, this finely crafted edition will come at an expensive price tag, at $499.99 each. That's a big jump from the launch price of the regular version.
But again, the aluminum version will be "available in highly limited quantities," and Analogue says it "will never be sold again." Moreover, the past limited editions were successful, so this higher price tag is less likely to scare off the collectors. You can preorder one on July 15 from the company's official website, and this new variant will start shipping on July 17.
If this is your first time hearing about Analogue Pocket, it's powered by field-programmable gate array chips and can run Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, and Game Boy Color cartridges. You can also run Atari Lynx, Game Gear, and Neo Geo Pocket with adapters.
