AMD Ryzen 7 449

The AMD Ryzen 7 449 is a high-performance mobile processor from the Gorgon Point family. The APU integrates eight CPU cores (4x Zen 5 with up to 5.1 GHz and 4x Zen 5c with less cache and a maximum clock speed of 3.6 GHz). The CPU is similar to the older Ryzen AI 7 450, but features slightly lower-clocked CPU and GPU units and has no Ryzen AI NPU.
Architecture and Features
The APUs in the Gorgon Point and Krackan Point families are based on cores from the Zen 5 and Zen 5c microarchitectures, which are arranged in separate clusters. Zen 5c is a slightly slower, more compact, and more energy-efficient variant of Zen 5. One of the differences lies in the cache size: the Zen 5 cores have larger caches.
According to reports (ChipsAndCheese), the mobile Zen 5 implementation is more similar to desktop Zen 4 than to desktop Zen 5 due to the different cache sizes, significant differences in AVX-512 throughput, and other factors.
The Ryzen 7 449 supports LPDDR5x-8000 RAM and is natively compatible with USB 4 and therefore also with Thunderbolt. In addition, the chip supports PCIe 4.0 with a throughput of 1.9 GB/s per lane, just like its predecessors in the 8000 series.
As is typical for laptop CPUs, the Ryzen 7 chip cannot be replaced by the user because it is soldered in place.
Performance
Given the very similar clock speeds, performance should be on par with the older Ryzen AI 7 350 . Compared to Intel, it is likely to be comparable to that of an Intel Core i7-13900H.
Graphics
The Radeon 860M is the direct successor to the Radeon 760M and offers eight compute units (CUs, or 512 shaders) clocked at up to 2.8 GHz.
Power Consumption
The R7 449 is expected to have a base TDP of 28 W, though laptop manufacturers can set the TDP between 15 and 54 W.
TSMC’s 4 nm manufacturing process ensures above-average energy efficiency.
