Catering to sim racing novices and enthusiasts, the Logitech G RS H-Shifter boasts wide compatibility. The 7-speed manual gearbox pairs with the brand’s popular racing wheels on PC and console. With a sturdier construction, the $159.99/€159.99 accessory features smoother Hall-effect technology.

Logitech hopes to add more realism to racing sim setups with its RS H-Shifter. Addressing complaints about the Driving Force Shifter, the updated alternative promises greater durability. Along with contactless Hall-effect sensors, drivers will also detect tactile feedback as they move through 7 gears.

An upgraded shifter with a higher cost

The RS H-Shifter is available now in multiple regions at an MSRP of $159.99/€159.99. Logitech’s accessory connects seamlessly to its Pro and RS50 racing wheels. PC users can opt for a direct USB connection in supported racing games. Console owners will need the manufacturer’s racing adapter for G-series wheels.

While the Driving Force is functional, it doesn’t match the build quality of premium racing wheels and pedals. This upgraded option combines aluminum and steel with a more traditional hard-plastic construction. Just as significant, Hall effect technology relies on fewer mechanical parts and is less prone to wear during intense competition.

Particularly for newcomers, operating a manual transmission introduces a steep learning curve. To aid these drivers, a push-through lockout avoids unintended transitions into 7th or reverse gear. Logitech is striving for authentic responses to inputs while maintaining a smooth feel.

A shifter for pro and casual setups

The Logitech RS H-Shifter integrates into cockpits with monitors, button boxes, and pedals. At the same time, buyers can still mount it to desktops alongside the direct-drive Pro Racing Wheel. The reinforced table clamp works with many stands that many console gamers depend on.

Customization is also welcomed, with the ability to swap knobs or install shaft extenders. Even so, the stock hardware should accommodate most driving styles.

H-shifters enhance a wide range of rally, GT, and street racing games on PCs, PS5, and Xbox consoles. However, Gran Turismo 7 blocks the accessory during online multiplayer, while titles like Assetto Corsa Competizione are designed for paddle and sequential shifters.
