The 8943G and 5943G models were officially unveiled in Italy

The Taiwan-based computer manufacturer Acer has reportedly introduced two new high-performance notebooks. The 8943G and 5943G are part of the all new Aspire Ethos Series, which apparently offers a whole new design and multimedia experience.

Gaming and entertainment enthusiasts as well as business professionals can take advantage of this allegedly elegant and innovative line-up of high-end notebooks.

Acer has supposedly focused on providing its customers with an eco-friendly and energy-saving display that is accompanied by a discrete graphics controller. The new laptops deliver 3D visual effects and Dolby Home Theatre audio support (CineSurround Sound).

Aspire Ethos 8943G

This model sports an Intel HM55 Express Chipset and is powered by a choice of Core i5/i7 central processing units. Consumers can choose up to an Intel Core i7-820QM CPU with a core frequency of 1.73GHz (goes up to 3.06GHz with Turbo Boost Technology), 8MB of cache and 45W Max TDP. Furthermore, the Hyper-Threading Technology allows several applications to run simultaneously without making the system unstable.

Acer has equipped this notebook with an 18.4-inch LED-backlit widescreen display with a maximum resolution of 1920-by-1080 pixels, which means you can watch and enjoy Full HD 1080p videos. Moreover, the high-end portable computer will ship with an ATI Radeon HD5000 Series graphics controller with 1GB of dedicated video RAM.

Users will be presumably able to purchase the Ethos 8943G with up to 4GB of internal DDR3 memory and “one or two” 640GB mechanical hard drives (HDD).

Aspire Ethos 5934G

The Ethos 5934G offers the same chipset, graphics controller and choice of high-performance Core i5/i7 processors. It features, however, a 15.6 HD high-brightness widescreen display (1366x768 pixels, 720p).

This model will reportedly ship with one HDD that has a storage capacity of “640GB or higher”. Furthermore, both systems will come with an integrated Blu-Ray Burner Combo optical drive.

The two new Ethos models will let you stay connected thanks to the integrated Wireless-N Intel Centrino 1000 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR adapters. In terms of I/O connectivity, the 8943G and 5943G will supposedly pack high-speed USB ports, eSATA output, infrared (CIR), an HDMI interface with HDCP support and media card reader slot.

Also available is a built-in HD web camera for video conferencing.

Other specs, Pricing and Availability

Both notebooks will ship with a pre-installed copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (up to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit) operating system. According to the company, the 8943G weighs 4.6kg () with an 8-cell battery (up to 4.5 hours of battery life) and the 5943G has a weight of 3.3kg () with the same lithium-ion battery.

Reportedly, both systems sport an integrated subwoofer and either five (8943G) or two (5943G) built-in speakers. Other features include a fingerprint reader, Kensington Lock, DVB-T TV Tuner and chiclet keyboard with a multi-gesture touchpad.

Pricing and availability are yet to be unveiled.
