Seiko has revealed the Prospex Speedtimer 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championships Limited Edition solar chronograph. This watch commemorates the upcoming competition that will be held in Japan in September 2025, at which Seiko is the Official Timekeeper.
This Tokyo World Athletics Championships Limited Edition Prospex Speedtimer has an Edo-Murasaki or Tokyo Purple dial, with the event’s logo featured on the case back next to the limited edition number. The hands and indexes have a Lumibrite coating, making it easier to tell the time at night. Plus, this watch has a stainless steel casing, measuring 39.0 x 45.4 x 13.3 mm (~1.5 x 1.8 x 0.5 inches) and a stainless steel strap with a three-fold clasp.
The Prospex Speedtimer features a 60-minute chronograph and a 24-hour sub-dial. It can be charged with solar power, using natural or electric light, running for around six months on a full charge without further light exposure. It uses the brand’s V192 solar-charged movement, said to remain accurate to within 15 seconds each month. Other features include a Tachymeter on the bezel and a date display.
The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championships Limited Edition (SSC955P1) is now available to pre-order in the UK for £650. It will be released in the US in August 2025, where it will retail for $775. Seiko notes that only 6,000 pieces of this limited edition watch will be available worldwide.
