Casio’s high-end MRG-B2000JS-1AJR, which was first revealed in late 2024 as a Japan-exclusive MR-G model, has quietly slipped into low stock status, with most listings in Japan either marked as sold out or unavailable. Production appears to have officially ended, with just 800 pieces made worldwide.
For reference, this wasn’t just any luxury G-Shock. The MRG-B2000JS-1AJR was built around the analog MRG-B2000 platform but drew a lot of inspiration from traditional Japanese sword-making. Specifically, it was modeled after the "Jūmangokumaru–Yō," a blade forged by swordsmith Umetada Sadanobu. Every detail - from the layered copper-titanium bezel to the engraved Yasurime texture - was designed to reflect the spirit of that katana.
It launched at over 1 million yen (~$6,912), becoming the first MR-G watch to cross that pricing milestone. At the time, that definitely raised eyebrows even within the collector community, but its limited production and attention to detail eventually helped it gain steady traction.
Now, according to fresh reports from Great G-Shock World, the watch is becoming harder to track down. Official G-Shock stores, Edge specialty shops, and department store counters have either removed the listing or listed it as out of stock. A few places are still mentioning it, but it’s unclear whether that refers to backroom leftovers, display units, or archived product pages.
Since production is wrapped up and retail availability fading fast, the MRG-B2000JS-1AJR is likely on its way to becoming one of the more elusive MR-G releases of the last few years. For anyone still hoping to get one, this might be the last real window to act before it becomes a purely secondhand market hunt.
