Casio unveils limited G-SHOCK MRG-B2000JS-1A with recrystallized titanium bezel and hand-engraved back
Casio has officially launched the limited-edition G-SHOCK MRG-B2000JS-1A, inspired by the 'Juryoku-Maru: San' original katana, with only 800 pieces to be available worldwide. This model features a bezel made from recrystallized hybrid titanium, designed to mimic the temper pattern of a traditional katana blade. The MRG-B2000JS-1A comes equipped with Multi-Band 6 for automatic time adjustment, Tough Solar power, and Bluetooth connectivity for syncing with smartphones.
The titanium alloy DAT55G band is highlighted by a distinctive Aogai shell inlay that mimics the lacquer design of the sword's scabbard. Microstructure technology has created a dynamic coloring that changes depending on the viewing angle. The band and bezel are further treated with a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating, which should further boost scratch resistance and durability.
Each watch is individually engraved with the Japanese character 燦 (San) on the case back, using swordsmithing techniques. The G-SHOCK model also features sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating and 'Super Illuminator' LED for extra readability in low light.
This G-SHOCK model is water-resistant to 200 meters and has a Clad Guard Structure, which builds shock resistance into the crown and buttons. All the aforementioned features make the MRG-B2000JS-1A a high-end model, priced at approximately $8,000 USD. It is scheduled for a November 2024 release in Japan, retailing at 1.1 million yen with a serial number for each individual piece - making it more of an exclusive collector's item than anything else. Also, the hand-engraving on the case back means every single watch will have its own unique look, which is pretty cool.
