According to new rumors, Xiaomi could be working on a new tablet. This tablet is teased to be a compact flagship tablet and, more importantly, will feature an OLED screen, as well as one of the most powerful chipsets on the market.

The compact flagship tablet market has seen a boom over the past few years, with an array of models from Chinese OEMs being released. Most compact tablets released so far feature LCDs, however, and only the Oppo Pad Mini and RedMagic Astra tablets sport OLEDs. Thankfully, that could be set to change.

Word on the grapevine indicates Xiaomi could be working on a new compact premium tablet. The company already offers the Redmi K Pad lineup, with both generations of that tablet featuring flagship chipsets in an 8.8-inch body. They also sport LCDs, and are designed to be performance-focused offerings, as evidenced by the Redmi branding.

The new tablet will feature an OLED screen and, presumably, be a full-fledged Xiaomi model. As teased by Digital Chat Station, this potential tablet could mimic the dimensions of the company's new Xiaomi 18 Fold and sport narrow bezels. Another leaker, Smart Pikachu, claims work has begun on the tablet.

Outside of its display type and premium aspirations, not much is known about this device. It's been mooted to be powered by a "desired chipset", however—potentially indicating the presence of Xiaomi's new, powerful Xring O3. That, of course, means it'll likely be a direct rival to Apple's upcoming OLED iPad Mini. Expected to be the iPad Mini 8, Apple's offering is tipped to feature the A19 Pro chip and an 8.4-inch OLED, albeit with a 60 Hz refresh rate.
